Australian Champion Sinaway Zorros Mark TD CGC,
or Zed to her friends, is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. When she was active in the show ring, she was a multi Class in Group winner, multi Class in Show winner, both at breed specialty, Gundog specialty, and All Breed level. Her very first show saw her awarded Best of Breed and Minor in Group, at only a few days over 6 months of age. Even though we lived in the Snowy Mountains at the time, a great number of these wins were in Sydney against the hottest competition of the day.
At 21 months of age, she came back into the show ring for the Southern Gundog Specialty show under Breed Specialist Mr Keith Simmons of New Zealand.
She was awarded a 25 point Best of Breed, Best Intermediate in Show,
and was shortlisted fourth for Best In Show.
To Zed, it was just another day to spend with her other human friends. She is a girl who has always enjoyed the show ring, any way to go in the car, and do something with Mum!
She is a very sharp dog, with very strong hunting instincts, one of the quickest to learn, and most trainable dogs I have ever met. She is a talented, natural tracker, as Weimaraners should be, yet is from totally show bred lines. This just goes to show that well bred Weimaraners retain all the instincts they should have.
In August 2009, Zed attained her Tracking Dog title, even though she is trained by a total beginner, without anyone who knows what they are doing. All I do, is watch for her signals, and keep the 10 metre lead out of her way. She does the rest.
In 2008, Zed earned her Canine Good Citizen award, through the Delta Society. It is believed that she is the first short haired, show titled Weimaraner to gain this, which is a test of temperament and manners. She was not specially trained for this test, she gained it purely on how she naturally is.
Zed was the second show titled Weimaraner to gain this, as her kennel mate Australian Champion Sinaway You Can Hope CGC CCD "V" (Lara) was the first, and is a Longhaired Weimaraner.
Now in 2010, Zed is about to start her career in the Obedience ring. As she is so fast in all her responses, I decided that it was a good idea to start her off on the clicker. With only two classes this year, at the end of March she placed fourth in all the dogs at her level. And we had not started at the beginning like the others dogs, she has had only six classes in her life! We will also be starting back in Tracking soon, although the start of the season is a bit crowded with the Nationals on in Adelaide April 30 until May 3.
