Zed Attains Her Tracking Dog Title.
On August 2nd, Zed got her final tracking pass for her Tracking Dog title. So she is now
Australian Champion Sinaway Zorros Mark TD.
The Judge was Helen Schaefen, and she qualified with a Very Good. It was an Excellent, but was down graded due to her inexperienced handler's lead work. Oh well, you live and learn. So now we begin the work towards the TDX, Tracking Dog Excellent title. The number of turns, the length of the track, and the time since the tracklayer laid the track, all increase sharply.
Photo to come.
Zed's Continued Tracking Success.
July 26 saw Zed continue with her Tracking at the Tracking and Rescue Club Trial, under Judge Anne Howard. This was her Track 2, 800 metres long, and this one was around and down the side of a steep hill, heavy cover, fallen timber and a dead bird! This time, Zed only came up with a Pass, but was the only dog in the Trial to get a Qualifying pass! So that's two down, one to go.
Zed's Off To A Flying Start with Tracking
On July 16, Zed started off her Tracking career in Sydney, at the Metropolitan Mid Week Trial. Her Track 1 (400 metres) was graded Excellent, and the Judge, Ineke de Wit, commented that it was a brilliant track. It has been a long time coming, as Wendy has been waiting since 1979 to give this a try! Zed really loves Tracking, not sure if it is finding something nice at the end, or the fact that she doesn't have to share Wendy for a whole day! She IS Mummy's girl, after all!
Introducing our latest addition -
Feldjaeger Unforgetable
Morgan
We are pleased to announce the latest addition to our family here at Syrinx, Morgan, a little, hairy banana bender, bred by Judy Glover of Feldjaeger Weimaraners. I am sure that Morgan was a shark in a past life - NOTHING is safe around her!
Morgan is full of personality, a real wild child, and is totally fearless. No dog is too big, no place too noisy. We have big plans for her, and this type of temperament is exactly why we nagged Judy to produce this breeding for us. We wanted a pup who could hold her own in the show ring, and have a great working temperament as well. A well rounded, sound Weimaraner.
The first show we entered Morgan in was the Spring Fair. There was an entry of over 2000 dogs each day, and I am sure that she thought they were all there to play with just her, and all the people wanted to cuddle her. She certainly climbed in enough laps! Unfortunately Morgan also decided she didn't want to walk nicely, she wanted to RUN! So although she was Baby of Breed each day, and one of the judges wanted to steel away this 'Precious Pumpkin' as she called her, she didn't go any further. She thought stacking was fine, but running should be the mode of getting around the ring. Well, she was only three months and two weeks, and she is a baby. Anyway, we don't like little robots, puppies should be puppies. Lara was Best of Breed both days, but was glad to get home and clock off from Child Care duties.

November 7, 2008 - Lara gives us our first Obedience Title
On a wet Canberra night, Lara gained her third and final pass in Obedience to get her, and our, first Obedience title.
She is now Australian Champion Sinaway You Can Hope CCD.
Lara had a score of 91, and was third in a high scoring ring, where there was only four points between first and third.
This is the first step for her Obedience career.
She can already perform the exercises for Novice, but the trick will be to convince her to do it when I want her to!
Photo right, Lara with her winnings. This was after presentation - it had been a long night!

NSW Weimaraner Club State Specialty Show
The judge for this show was Dr Axel Linneweber of Germany. He is a for all breeds and gundog tests of the Versatile Hunting Dog Association on Germany (the Federal Jagdgebrauchshundeverband). Dr Linneweber is also a VDH/FCI Judge for Weimaraner Gundogs (Short and Longhair). He is also the Chief Judge for the Arbitration Tribunal of the VDH (Association for all breeds and dog clubs in Germany) and Chief Judge of the Arbitration Tribunal of the Weimaraner Club of Germany.
We were excited at the chance to get an FCI grading in between Nationals, which only occur every five years. Too far apart, we think.
We entered four dogs, but due to dog trailer problems, we had to chose two to go in the station wagon. This meant one boy, one girl, and Zed had come into season. Boss had not been shown at the Weimaraner National in 2005, and so had never been graded.
This meant that we took Boss and Lara.
Lara was graded 'Excellent', won her class of Australian Bred Bitch and then Bitch Challenge and Runner Up to Best of Breed!
Her last show had been the Weimaraner National, November 2005, where she was also graded 'Excellent'.

Boss gives us our first Endurance Title.
At the age of 7 years and 8 months, Boss became
Australian Champion Grausturm Egomaniac ET .
He had done no training, had never run with a bike before, or met Julie who handled him.
After he had run 20 kilometres, at 10 kilometres an hour, Boss' heart rate was lower than it had been the day before at the Vet's office!
Any sensibly bred, well constructed, healthy Weimaraner of his age,
should be able to do the same.
This is a dog who could really work a full day in the field with no problem!
Below left, Boss during the test, displaying his lovely side movement .
Middle, Wendy and Boss after the Obedience Section.
Right, Boss and his handler, Julie.
