"Riley"

Riley (or Riley Ratbag as he is known at home) was the first puppy of either of his parents in the ring. At the tender age of 8 months, he won the Dog Challenge at Canberra Royal and at the Weimaraner Club of NSW Specialty Show, under Mrs Stephanie Rickard two weeks later. Now at 6 years, Riley has gained his ET in a trial in Canberra under trying conditions that he enjoyed greatly, and he could have done the course twice!

Riley was half way to his championship, when he had a unfortunate episode and swallowed a rock. He lost a large section of intestine, and almost his life. He never really returned to the ring. Judges made numerous, very positive comments about him, his bone, head and movement especially. The judge at the Spring Fair wanted to give him Runner up to Baby in Group at only his third show, but was (of course) told she could not.

Both of Riley's parents have been graded Excellent, his mother Lara is the only Longhair bitch in Australia to have been given an FCI Excellent grading on more than one occasion. Both have been awarded Challenge at Sydney Royal, his mother twice. At the NSW Weimaraner Club State Specialty after three years out of the show ring, Lara was Challenge and Runner up Best of Breed.

Riley is doing Obedience at the Companion Dog Club of Canberra. He is from strong working lines, his granddam Aust & Swedish Ch, Norwegian Winner 2004, Swedish Winner 2004, Veteran World Winner 2008 Grausturm Dare To Dream is also a Swedish Blood Tracking Champion, and most European countries require a Weimaraner to hold a field title to be recognised as a Show Champion. Riley's half sister in Latvia is Baltic, Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Ukrainian, Russian, Belarus, Polish Champion, Latvian Winner 2008, Lithuanian Winner 2008 Grausturm Love Is A Drug BH, D-I, D-II, D-III. 'Audry' was graded Excellent (10 out of 10) in her first Retreiving Test, at only 10 months of age.
